1. Who we are
Halal in Amsterdam (HalalInAmsterdam.com), Amsterdam, the Netherlands. E-mail: [email protected]. These terms apply to every purchase of our digital products and every concierge agreement. If a translation differs from the English text, the English text applies.
2. Digital products (guides and itineraries)
Our guides and itineraries are PDF files. They are sold by our online reseller Gumroad, which is the merchant of record: it takes your payment, charges the right VAT, sends your invoice and delivers your download. Gumroad's buyer terms also apply to the payment. Prices are shown in euros and include Dutch VAT. Gumroad calculates the VAT for your country at checkout, so the final amount can differ slightly; buyers outside the EU usually pay no EU VAT.
Your download link appears straight after payment and is e-mailed to you.
3. Right of withdrawal for digital products
As a consumer in the EU you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content that is delivered immediately, this right ends when delivery begins, but only if you have agreed to that. Before checkout you therefore tick a box confirming: “I expressly agree that HalalInAmsterdam.com delivers the digital travel guide immediately, within the 14-day withdrawal period, and I acknowledge that I lose my right of withdrawal once delivery of the digital content begins.” We record this consent with your order and confirm it in your order e-mail. Without ticking the box you cannot buy. Free products have no withdrawal period.
This does not affect your legal rights if a file is faulty, incomplete or cannot be downloaded: we then replace it or refund you. See withdrawal & refunds.
4. Use of the guide
You receive a personal, non-transferable licence to read the guide on your own devices and to print it for your own trip. You may not share, resell, upload or publish the files or their contents. All texts, maps and designs are protected by copyright.
5. Updates
Buyers of the 2026 edition receive free updates for the 2026–2027 season by e-mail, at the address used for the order.
6. Concierge services
A proposal is free and without obligation. The agreement starts when you accept our proposal in writing (by e-mail or WhatsApp). The price and what is included are stated in the proposal. We send a secure payment link; payment is due before we start, unless agreed otherwise.
For concierge services you have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the day the agreement starts. If you ask us to start within those 14 days and then withdraw, you pay for the work already done. Once the service has been fully performed at your express request, your right of withdrawal ends. How to withdraw is explained on the withdrawal & refunds page, including a model withdrawal form.
We book hotels, restaurants, boats and other services on your behalf as your intermediary. Those bookings are agreements between you and the supplier, and the supplier's own terms, prices and cancellation rules apply. We are not responsible for what a supplier does or fails to do, but we will help you if something goes wrong.
7. Halal information
We check listings carefully and show the level and date of each check. Halal status, ownership, menus, prices and opening hours can change at any time, and halal standards differ between schools of thought. Always confirm with the venue. We are not liable for changes made by third parties.
8. Liability
Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the product or service concerned. This limit does not apply to damage caused by our intent or gross negligence, and it never limits rights that consumer law gives you.
9. Complaints
Not happy? E-mail [email protected] with your order number and a short description. We confirm receipt within 3 working days and give a full answer within 14 days. If we cannot solve it together, you can go to the competent court.
10. Applicable law
Dutch law applies. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country. Disputes go to the competent court in Amsterdam, unless the law gives you the right to go to a court where you live.
11. Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in our privacy policy and cookie policy.
12. How we earn money
We earn from guide and itinerary sales, concierge fees, hotel partnerships and commissions on some links (for example hotel or tour bookings). Links that may earn us a commission are marked ↗; you never pay more because of them. Partners never pay for a verification level, and partner listings are labelled as partners.
