Halal in Amsterdam

Our mission

Making Amsterdam easier, more comfortable and unforgettable for Muslim travellers. We answer the questions general guides skip: is this restaurant really halal, where can I pray near the museum, which area suits a family, and is it comfortable for a woman travelling alone.

How we verify halal listings

Halal is a requirement, so every food listing shows how far we have verified it:

  • Certified: we have seen a valid certificate from a recognised certifier (such as Halal Correct). We record the certifier and the expiry date.
  • Owner-confirmed: the owner confirmed in writing that all meat is halal, and told us whether alcohol is served and whether pork is ever on the premises.
  • Community-reported: Muslim-owned or widely trusted in the local community, without a certificate or written confirmation yet.
  • Check pending: listed from our research, not yet checked.

We show the date of the last check on each listing and re-check every six months, or sooner when readers report a change. Report a change: [email protected].

Independence

Restaurants cannot pay for a verification level or a better position. Partner hotels and restaurants are marked as partners. We earn money from guide sales, concierge services, hotel partnerships and some affiliate links; see how we earn money.
